The Art of Love

Today is day one of the month associated with celebrating love. This year, I am fully embracing the theme by challenging myself to make a conscious love connection on each of the twenty-eight days in February. This will include celebrating romantic love, love between friends, maternal love, self-love, and brotherly love. It may take the visible form of a call, a card, a hug, a gift, a kiss. Or, it may be invisible - a meditation, a prayer, or one of my favourites, visualizing hundreds of tiny hearts raining down on strangers. Thank you February for inviting me to practice the art of love.

Sun's Kiss

The two of us ambling along through the forest yesterday afternoon. Close to the river's edge.  Silently enjoying the unhurried pace.  Bundled up in down vest and gloves.  Approaching a clearing in the trees. Slowing down even further.  My face instinctively angling itself towards the sun.  Like the potted plant on the kitchen sill.   Keen to absorb the maximum available warmth and light.  Continuing to walk with eyes closed.  Lost in the moment.  Deeply appreciating this kiss of life.

Blowing Kisses

Perfect location.  Hanging there on the wall at the foot of the stairs.  A photo of just the two of them.  Taken at the cabin a couple of years ago. Both with their infectious smiles and piercing blue eyes.  That moment in time captured for eternity.  Connecting to this image when descending the staircase.  Through my heart and my eyes.  First thing in the morning.  Many times during the course of the day.  Often moved to blowing them a kiss.  Always a love filled moment.  And one of gratitude for having them in my life.
