Open Circle

Since early this year, I have been lacking inspiration to write, and for the past couple of weeks, experienced increasing anxiety regarding the upcoming 6th anniversary of my son's death. A few days ago, I realized that in order to bolster my link with the metaphysical realm, I needed to attend an Open Circle, something I had not done for well over a year. And so, I did.
Seven of us, including the facilitator, began with a healing meditation - for the group, for friends and acquaintances, for the entire planet. This was followed by a lengthy guided visualization, and concluded with mediumship and sharing messages for each other.
To see and feel Michael's presence during my visualization was a huge source of comfort and support. He presented as his 25-year-old self, and was so "alive" with enthusiasm, smiling and emanating immense joy. It was obvious that he was as happy to see me as I was to see him. During our time together, it felt like a case of role reversal -  as if I were the child and he the parent, showing me the way. Later, when it came time to share our experiences with the group, I learned that he even showed up in someone else's visualization.
At the end of the evening, there were several wonderful messages for me from other circle participants, all of which served to strengthen the relationship with my son.
Along with a renewed desire to write, those inspiring three hours of deep spiritual connection with Michael resulted in relieving some of my anxiety and filling my being with joy and contentment. So glad I followed through on my intuition to attend - a powerful evening with lasting impact.

Accidental Connection

Woke up to another magnificent sunny day on Sunday.  Leisurely start with morning paper and coffee, followed by checking email, then Facebook.  Scrolling down, I noticed a post from a prominent biologist whom I follow, and as I read the copy accompanying a photo taken at a recent film screening, I was quickly transported from serenity to a heightened state, complete with increased heart rate.  The caption named a Grand Chief and his wife who were both seated beside her.  My intuition kicked in and I had a strong sense that this was the woman who had had the misfortune of driving northbound through Princeton on the early morning of March 7, 2011, approaching a corner to find a car skidding across the ice, directly into her path, then colliding.  To date, the minimal information I had regarding that driver's identity was due to a bizarre coincidence one of my neighbours had shared with me a few months after the accident.  While awaiting dinner service at a conference up in the Okanagan, he had taken his assigned seat, when a fellow attendee, using a cane, approached the table and sat down beside him in her designated seat.  During their conversation, it was revealed that the woman had been in a car accident, thus the cane, and after further discussion, these two realized that the accident was one and the same. When my neighbour returned home, he had told me about the crazy connection but did not mention her by name, only that her husband was an Okanagan band chief and the number of children they had.  Back to the photo.  It took a mere few minutes of online research to realize that indeed this was the right person and to get her contact information.  After some thought, I felt compelled to send her an email, explaining who I was, wishing her well, and assuring her that after Michael and Kelly's deaths, it had never crossed my mind to ask,"Why him, why her, why me?"  This morning, I received a lovely reply resulting in two mother's hearts soothed after this accidental connection.

I'm Right Here

Enjoying a dynamic conversation with a young woman recently. Someone I had never spoken to.  She initiating the contact.  Calling me after receiving prompting by spirit.  Not personally acquainted with Michael or Kelly before they passed.  Only hearing of their existence from a friend.  Now on the phone with me, relaying experiences of spirit connection.  The first occurring on the eve of the memorial golf tournament last June.  Spending the night with two friends.  Sleeping in a home with a connection to Kelly.  Waking to her legs being shaken.  With powerful energy.  Sitting up and noticing a young man standing at the foot of the bed.  Hearing him say, "I'm right here." Observing a young woman quietly standing nearby.  Understanding she was seeing Mike and Kelly.  People she had never met.  In the morning, discussing it with friends who had known the two.  Receiving confirmation about what she had surmised.  A second incident occurring last week.  A voice suggesting, "You need to talk to my mom." Again recognizing Mike.  Unsure of the reason behind the advise. Listening to her intuition.  Following through.  Not long into our conversation, understanding why.  Later, conveying a related incident to her.  Describing the experience my husband had around that time last year.  Being roused from his sleep.  By a voice speaking those exact same three words.  "I'm right here."  Feeling his son standing at the foot of the bed!  All of these occurrences showing further evidence of eternal existence.  These individuals open to experiencing it.  In love and light.

Rich and Vivid Life

Preparing for bed a couple of nights ago.  Expressing gratitude for being able to experience life with an integrated connection to the unseen. Wondering how to articulate to another what it feels like to live this way.  Immediately shown an analogy.  Imagining a person seeing the entire world without colour.  Solely in shades of black and white. Certainly functional, but fairly dull.  Then flipping a switch.  Allowing all the colours of the rainbow to be observed and factored in.  Adding a huge measure of intensity to all perceptions.  Bringing increased vibrancy to daily life.  If that individual were then to incorporate the additional layer of gaining information through intuition and spirit connection, he would experience yet another magnificent shift.  Just as dramatic as the first.  Resulting in an even richer and more vivid life.

Intuition Speaks, I Listen

As I prepare to meet with the tattoo artist later today to discuss the design honouring Michael and Kelly, I reflect on my first one. Seven years ago, while running near the cabin, I heard a message loud and clear - You need to get a tattoo.  What?  A tattoo?  This was not something I had been considering at all.  A phoenix located on your root chakra at the base of your spine.  Talk about specifics.  I contemplated what this mythical bird represented and what it might look like but I had very little knowledge.  Scouring the internet for images and further insight, I soon realized that this powerful bird resonated deeply. The suggested placement was no mystery since the root chakra was the grounding force and connection to life.  I then learned that the first annual Vancouver Tattoo Convention would be held the following weekend.  Of course it would. Shortly thereafter, I knew what my tattoo would look like and committed to having it done.  During this process, I also recalled that eight years prior, my aunt had called to pass on a message she had received for me  - You are the phoenix rising from the ashes.  Rebirth.  This magnificent bird is located where I can only see the reflected image of it.  However, just knowing it is there continues to serve me well.

It's Just Hair

I often get comments on my very short hair and the most common one from women is, "I wish I could wear mine like that." Usually I just smile and say thank you. I may add something to the effect of, "Why not just try it, what have you got to loose? It's just hair and it'll grow back if you don't like it." Occasionally I will tell the person the story of how mine came to be. One September morning in 1995 I awoke with a very strong sense that I should get my shoulder length hair cut short. I had not been contemplating that nor did I have any idea of what that might look like. The feeling was so strong that I called my mother's friend, a hairstylist in my neighbourhood who had very short hair herself and asked if I could come to her salon that very morning. When I arrived she asked what the cut should look like and I replied, "Just short." She pressed, asking if I had any pictures or photos to show her. I didn't. Well, she cut away and I left with very short hair indeed. I felt great about it but because I hadn't told my husband or three children about it, it was a bit of a shock to them. Well, as it turned out, two months later I was diagnosed with cancer, stage three Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and two months after that, my hair was falling out due to the chemo treatments. By following through on my intuition, I had a tiny bit of preparation for what was ahead of me, and once again I had verification that it's a powerful tool that helps me navigate my life in ways that I may not understand in the moment, but will most often be revealed to me later on. So, if your intuition is telling you something today, listen closely, and act. After all, it's just hair!
