She Shed

Intuitively, my husband often finds himself ahead of lifestyle trends. He is not actively searching for them - he does not aspire to be trendy. Not sure if anyone named Bob does. However, ideas will occur to him that propel him to act before the activity becomes mainstream. Returning to vinyl records before they found a popular resurgence. Downsizing to a small home before this idea really started catching on. Then, a couple of months ago, deciding to build me a studio - a tiny outbuilding with just enough room to play with paint on canvas or lay out a yoga mat. About a week after he began working on this project , I saw numerous articles popularizing She Sheds, a catchy new name for this type of space. Turns out that wanting to provide me with a beautiful studio put him smack dab in the middle of being trendy again. This unassuming man I call my husband may have to consider changing his name.

Integrating Ideas and Choices

Off on an extended road trip.  My husband and I leaving to explore southwestern regions of the USA.  Bob's Idea; the impetus behind this adventure, as well as the name of our newly acquired trailer. Happy to go along for the ride.  With the understanding that I will be flying home without him a couple of times during this journey, in order to visit my granddaughter.  Before departing, mentioning this aspect of the expedition to others.  Unexpectedly, meeting up with bewilderment on occasion.  Some friends, even close relatives, unable to fathom this personal requirement.  Knowing me to be someone who has loved extensive travel in the past.  However, I am currently finding long trips away unappealing.  Open to the possibility that this may change in the future.  Confidently making the choice that makes sense in the present.

Sharing Laughs

Reading "Zits" comic strip in the Sunday funnies yesterday.  The one cartoon Michael and I regularly shared laughs over.  Right til the end. Both of us recognizing our mother/son relationship so accurately mirrored there.  First frame, dated January 8, 2012.  Mother on the phone.  "Hello Olive Garden? I'd like to make a reservation for three for my son's birthday."  This story concluding with the teenage son making last minute changes to the plans.  Leaving his mom banging her head against the wall.  Really?  Same birthday???  Immediately recognizing this sign from my witty son.  Still sharing laughs.  Offering up humour to lighten the load.  Our family and two friends later marking Michael's birthday at The Old Spaghetti Factory.  The idea leaping in a couple of months ago.  This inexpensive restaurant with its lively energy always his first pick for a dinner out.  Our group acknowledging the significance of this day with stories and laughter over a meal.  Helping to take the edge of an extremely difficult occasion.
